State Representative Dennis E Williams 10th Representative District
COMMUNITY UPDATE
drainage issues
I also met with state and county officials to discuss drainage issues at the county owned Brandywine Little League fields. We are working on a several phase project to plant trees and take other steps to improve drainage at the field and surrounding communities along Marsh and Naaman's Roads.
debris pits
I was successful in securing funding for debris pit remediation. Not only do thes debris pits represent a safety hazard, they create a negative impact on home values i out neighborhoods. I was successful in securing $750,000 to deal with these dangerous debris pits. This was on top of the $750,000 I was able to secure last year. Many homes in our district have had their properties restored as a result of this funding. I also worked with DNREC on a more streamlined process to handle the remediation.
roads and speeding
Major projects this year were curb and gutter repairs in Chalfonte and Ramblewood. I also funded two electronic radar speed signs in neighborhoods in the district. These signs have been effective at slowing down traffic along residential streets.

community meetings
Dennis holds community meetings to discuss a wide range of issues. Dennis has held community meetings with Governor Jack Markell, Senator Tom Carper, Lt. Governor Matt Denn, and Attorney General Beau Biden to provide updates and answer questions. Dennis held a public meeting with Delmarva Power to address resident's concerns over a series of power outages and power surges. Dennis attends Civic Association Meetings throughout the district all year long.
And, if someone could not attend one of those meetings, Dennis now holds monthly coffees for anyone to attend and ask questions and discuss issues. These are held at either Panera Bread, Sweeny's or the Darley House.
And of course, you can always call Dennis at 302-373-0115 or email him at DennisWilliams@DelawareFirst.net

flood insurance
shellpot creek floodplain study
We completed a survey of the Shellpot Creek floodplain to determine whether families living along the creek were still in the floodplain. About 100 out of 130 homes in the Shipley and Silverside Road area developments have been taken out of this floodplain, which might save residents hundreds of doallars in property insurance costs annually. I met with constitiuents to inform them of this development and am providing them with information of how to request a lower rate.
jobs at Port of Wilmington
Just a few miles down I-495, the port is one of the areas largest employers, employing people from our area and adding to our local economy. I secured funding for a new crane and for permits to expand onto the Delaware River, resulting in job growth at the Port.
